Knitted Surface Pattern
MA Design Project 2015/16

A Masters project focused on developing a sturdy knitted fabric suitable for interior surface decoration. Development was done on an industrial knitting machine with the objective of creating a textural stitch and half-drop repeat pattern that flows across several knitted tiles and can be put together in varying configurations. The pattern design was developed from hand-drawn artwork inspired by Matisse’s abstract Cut-Outs and the cracked mosaic tiles of Gaudi’s Parc Guell in Barcelona.
