Personalise or Mend your Jumper
Saturday 4th May 2024 – 11am to 1pm
El Vivero de Ideas, Calle Teobaldos 10, Pamplona
Learn how to darn and care for your knitwear.
Loved clothes last!
About
We have never produced more clothes. We have never worn them less. The industry is producing twice as many clothes as it was in the early 2000s, but the number of times each garment is worn has decreased significantly.
Mending not only keeps your clothes in use for longer, but it creates a greater connection with them, so you’ll be less likely to throw them away without a thought. Let’s put an end to disposable fashion!
This workshop will teach you how to darn, so that next time you have a hole in your knitwear, you’ll be able to mend it and add your personal touch. We will be focusing on one mending technique that is used to cover holes, but it can also be used to add decorative blocks of colour and to reinforce worn-out areas, such as the elbows.
Bring a chunky jumper or cardigan that you would like to personalise or mend. If you don’t have a piece of knitwear with holes, then you could darn elbow patches or personalise it by adding colour. The workshop will be led by Kate Mawby, a knitwear designer with many years of experience working for brands in New York and London. She will help you build the skills and confidence to darn your clothes in the future.

La Vieja Escuela, Calle Amaya 36, Pamplona
Stitch in protest against disposable fashion!
Join the Fashion Revolution!
Mend together and learn about sustainable fashion!
About
Saturday 20th April 2024 is the first global Mend in Public Day. It stands as a beacon of change in a world inundated with fashion waste. Join the Fashion Revolution and stitch in protest against disposable fashion.
Pamplona Mend in Public Day 2024 will start with a talk about sustainable fashion by Kate Mawby. Afterwards she will do a visible mending workshop where you will learn a technique to patch and customise your jeans. You can also bring along your own mending project and we can stitch together; learning and sharing skills from each other.
This free event aims to raise awareness of the impact our clothing has on the environment and how you, as a consumer, can be a part of the change towards a more sustainable future. You can come to all or part of the event, but sign up is required.
If you would like to take part in the workshop you will need to bring along a pair of worn out jeans with a hole that you would like to mend. You can buy a kit of materials or bring you own. The kit will include an upcycled denim patch, organic cotton thread in two natural colours and a needle.
If you are bringing your own mending project, please bring the necessary mending materials and tools.
